Graded Championships Finals & Pennant Meet and Greet

posted 28 Jul 2012, 01:20 by Norths Squash Club

The next squash social gathering is from 6:30pm until 10 pm Thurs 2 August at the norths courts. All norths squash club members are welcome to attend, have a chat and check out the squash. Refreshments (pizza and drinks) are provided by the squash club.

The Graded Championship Grand Finals will be playing through the night to provide you with cheering practice. All winners will receive a prize and the winners of each grade (not the plate) will have their name up in gold leaf on the honour boards.

Additionally, spring pennant players will be having their “meet & greet” on the night where they meet up with their teams, collect their competition balls and, if you don’t already have one, their club shirts.

Please note that reserves and non-pennant players are not provided with a shirt, but everyone is able to purchase one, if they wish, from Peter Deans for $20.

Also, if you received a prize at the last AGM and have not received it, please see Peter Deans on the night to collect it.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Rules lecture

posted 31 May 2012, 22:09 by Norths Squash Club   [ updated 31 May 2012, 22:35 ]

To assist our players in pennant, masters, summer comp, graded championships, our round robins and those who enjoy a social hit, we have organised a free rules lecture by John Small of NSW Squash.

This is a voluntary thing and will not result in additional points given in any competition.

We will discuss the rules of the game and, along with a video of real court examples, is a great way to learn how to both referee and how to play the game safely.

It will be just for norths Squash Club members and will be in the Kamaraigal room at the club at 3pm on Sunday 10 June.

From beginners who need to learn the rules or experienced player who just need to brush up on them, this afternnon is for you!

Please email us to RSVP and reserve your seat as there are limited places available.

P.S. If you can’t make it on Sunday, Kali has a club video from Squash Australia which shows examples on the court and has a mark sheet with an explanation of each call. Email the general squash email account for details.

The world’s best squash players will make their way to Canberra for the third consecutive year when the nation’s capital plays host to the Australian Open from August 13-19.

The Open will once again be held on the all-glass court set up in the city’s Royal Theatre, with comfortable seating for almost 2000 spectators.

The Australian Open has been a huge success since moving to Canberra in 2010 and Squash Australia CEO Gary O’Donnell said he expected the 2012 event to be even better than the two previous editions.
